Day Eighteen Lent Meditation: Shalom in The Wilderness, A 40-Day Spring Prayer

Today, we reflect on shalom (שָׁלוֹם)—a Hebrew word replete with meaning that goes beyond "peace" to encompass wholeness, completeness, and harmony.
In the wilderness, where life feels uncertain, shalom invites us to listen to the Voice above all voices. It reminds us that even in wild, untamed places, we can encounter divine provision + peace.
Shalom speaks of flourishing in every dimension of life—spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical. It is the restoration of harmony where there was once discord.
When King Solomon (whose name derives from shalom) prayed for righteousness + peace to "kiss each other" (Psalm 85:10), he envisioned a world where justice and love dwelt together.
In the wilderness of our lives, shalom is not the absence of struggle but the presence of divine wholeness that sustains us.

This Lenten season...
May Your shalom, O Beloved, meet us in the wilderness—bringing wholeness where we feel fragmented and harmony where there is chaos.
May we hear Your Voice above all others, guiding us through uncharted and untamed places with the promise of restoration and peace.
Let Your shalom disrupt our fears and reimagine our wilderness as sacred ground for transformation.
